HULL KR prop Rhys Lovegrove will miss the first month of the season.
Coach Justin Morgan has this morning confirmed the 23-year-old suffered knee ligament damage in training earlier this week.
Lovegrove was one of Rovers' most consistent performers last season.
However, he will now miss tomorrow's return to action at Huddersfield.
On a positive note for the player and club, Morgan says a scan has shown the injury will not require surgery.
"The damage could have been a lot worse, but Rhys could miss the first month of the season," Morgan told the Mail.
Lovegrove's injury gives Rich Beaumont a golden opportunity to persuade Morgan he is good enough to feature in the first team during the pre-season friendlies.
